Adding Cool Widgets to Your Profile Page on MyHandyNet |

The Basics
- There are many Widgets you can use on your Profile Page at MyHandyNet.
- Generally, the widgets used at MySpace can be used on your Profile Page. The exception is with Background Layouts because MyHandyNet does not have the same format as MySpace. If you use a background or layout it will only appear outside of the MyHandyNet page.
- Widgets run from a widget server separate from MyHandyNet. You will need to find a widget server, sign up and configure it to send your selected widgets to you Profile Page at MyHandyNet.
Example
- Go to MashCodes and find some cool widget you want to put onto your Profile Page. For example, at the top of the MashCodes page click on "Games" and in the new page click on a game you like.
- In the next page you will see the your selected game and below that is a box with the code you need to highlight and copy.
- Log into MyHandyNet or click on the "My Page" icon.
- Click on "Edit" and select "Update Your Profile".
- Click on "About Me" and an "Editing Page" will open
- Select "Source" in the upper right editing corner.
- Paste the code into the "Source Box" and select "OK"
- At the bottom of the "Edit Page" select "Update" and your done!
You can add as many widgets as you wish, just be careful to not mix up the code in your "Soruce Edit" window. For elaborate pages you many want to have a back up copy of your source on your computer.
Below is an example of a User Profile Page with a Video and Widget Panel.
- Register at WIdgetBox
- Select "Go to MyWidgets"
- Select "Panels"
- Select "Install Widget Panel"
- Select "MySpace" in the drop down "Install On" box. This is for the website you want the widget to run on and then select "Get Panel"
- In the new window Select "Type of Widget Panel"
- Login to MyHandyNet or Select "My Page" Icon and copy the URL for that page
- Paste you "MyHandyNet/My Page" URL into the "Enter the location (URL) of your MySpace page:" box
- Copy the new code that appears from the bottom of Widgetbox window
- Go to MyHandyNet, your User Profile Page, Select "Edit", then "Update Your Profile", and select "About Me"
- In the "Edit Window" select the "Source" button.
- Paste the "Widget Code" from Widgetbox into the "Source" Window.
- Select "OK" and "Update"
- After the page refreshes you will see the "Panel Widget Button"
- Click on the new Button and the Widget Panel will open.
Next, go back to you account on Widgetbox to select widgets to put into your new panel.
Follow the directions at WIdgetbox and don't forget to select "Save Progess" then refresh your MyHandyNet User Profile Page to view you widget additions and changes. Have fun!
