Description
| 1) What are the benefits of Frog Legs? |
| Frog Legs were originally developed to reduce the vibration in the frame of the wheelchair. Many wheelers experience pain or discomfort due to vibrations and road obstacles. Frog Legs will minimize the vibration in the frame due to riding over cobblestones, cracks in the road and other environmental imperfections. |
| A chair's ordinary "rigid" castor forks force the entire chair (and you!) up and over obstacles in its path. Frog Legs are designed so that only the wheel moves over such obstacles. This allows the chair itself (and, by extension, the rider) to enjoy a smooth, steady ride. No more sudden stops at door thresholds, curb cuts or on uneven sidewalks! |
| 2) Will Frog Legs fit my current wheelchair? |
| Yes. Frog Legs shock absorbers use industry-standard components which allow us to fit the castor barrel housings of more than 95% of all chairs on the market. |
| You can use our order page to custom-design a set of Frog Legs. It's simple and costs nothing to look! |
| Alternately, you can call us at (800) 922-2129 -- our staff will ask you a few easy questions, and the result will be the same: a set of Frog Legs custom-designed for you and your chair. |
| 3) Can I fit a wider wheel on Frog Legs? |
| Frog Legs Classics and UltraSports models are designed to accommodate two widths of wheels: 1" and 1-1/2". If you desire the maneuverability of a narrow wheel, we recommend the 1" version. |
| If, however, you take your chair onto outdoor surfaces -- gravel paths, trails, grass, etc. -- then we suggest the wider 1.5" wheel. Wider wheels have a "snowshoe effect": they're less likely to "sink into" a softer surface, including carpet. However, they have a curved design, so only a minimal amount of the wheel makes contact with hard surfaces. We've designed our own wheels to accompany our shocks. Check out our Browse Products section for the best wheels on the market. Flex Forx will handle a wheel up to 1.8" wide. Bull Frogs come in narrow 2" and wide 3" models. |
| 4) In what colors are Frog Legs available? |
| Frog Legs Classics and UltraSports are available in anodized black or silver aluminum, and look great on virtually any chair. Choose your color upon ordering. |
| Flex Forx are made from a composite material, and are Charcoal in color. Bull Frogs are available in Glossy Black only. |
| 5) Are Frog Legs easy to install? |
| Easy assembly instructions are provided with every set of Frog Legs we ship. All models of Frog Legs Shock Absorbers install on standard wheelchairs in less than 15 minutes, using only a 3/4" socket and a box-end wrench. If you intend to use your existing wheels with your Frog Legs, you'll also need two 5/16" or 4mm Allen Wrenches to tighten the axle. Or, a dealer will gladly help you install everything. |
| 6) Why are Frog Legs better than pneumatic tires? |
| Frog Legs and pneumatic (air-filled) tires both reduce the vibration to the frame of the chair. The disadvantages of pneumatic tires, however, include greater rolling resistance, flat tires at inopportune times, and an inability to "step over" larger obstacles the way Frog Legs do. Frog Legs with solid wheels roll easily, never go flat, and allow the wheel - rather than your chair, and you -- to absorb vertical motion. In short, they provide a far superior ride -- we guarantee it! |
| 7) Can I get Frog Legs for my power chair? |
| Yes, Bull Frogs are Frog Legs' power chair model. Please see our Browse Products section for details on these heavy duty shock absorbers. |
| 8) How long will my Frog Legs last? |
| Our Frog Legs Classics and UltraSports models each have two components: the forks and the polymer cushions: |
| Forks: Frog Legs manual forks are made of aircraft aluminum, making them extremely durable. Combine this with the "hinge and cushion" design, and they're virtually indestructible -- see our guarantee, below. |
| Polymers: The polymer cushions used in Frog Legs will also last the life of your chair. If you feel the cushions are not performing as they should, let us know and we'll send a free replacement set, along with simple installation instructions. Your dealer can also help with this. |
| 9) Are Frog Legs guaranteed? |
| Frog Legs Classics, UltraSports and Bull Frogs include a lifetime warranty -- they are guaranteed for the lifetime of the chair on which they are originally installed. |
| If, through personal use of your wheelchair, our shocks ever fail to provide a superior ride due to damage, we'll replace them for free! Our more economical Flex Forx come with a three-year limited warranty. |
| 10) I weigh 300 pounds. Can I use Frog Legs? |
| Frog Legs are designed to use a polymer system that varies in density according to a rider's weight. For riders over 250 pounds, extra-firm polymers are available. For riders of lesser weights, a comfortable ride is also achievable. Simply check the proper weight range in the Order Now section, and we'll outfit your Frog Legs with the proper polymer for the smoothest possible ride. |
| 11) Won't Frog Legs add a great deal of weight to my chair? |
| No. In fact, in some cases Frog Legs will weigh less than your original castor forks - especially if your original forks are steel. Depending on their size, aluminum forks will sometimes weigh a few ounces less than Frog Legs. However, by switching up to Ultra Sports (with our lighter and stronger stembolts) the weight will remain virtually the same. In almost every case with our Frog Legs Classics, we add no more than a half pound of overall weight. |
"Until Frog Legs came along, I didn't think there was anything that could improve the ride I was getting from my chair - but now I know different! I'm enjoying a better ride and better quality of life -- the more I use them the better I like them, and the better I feel." |
